Our Black History Month -  A New Beginning for Our North African Family?

It is not lost upon me that it is Black History Month, while the populations of so far three African Nations* have declared their independence from thier non-democratically elected Leadership.

Black History Month is commonly celebrated/honored to acknowledge those Ancestors and (people who still live) who have contributed to the uplift of African and African American people.

Revolution: a : a sudden, radical, or complete change b : a fundamental change in political organization; especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed c : activity or movement designed to effect fundamental changes in the socioeconomic situation d : a fundamental change in the way of thinking about or visualizing something : a change of paradigm <the Copernican revolution>

The people of the three African nations are in the throes of Human and Civil rights revolution.  Revolution is not an easy movement.  It is hard, stressful, costly, and often brutally deadly.  The ones being revealed to us at this time are adhering to the paradigm, no doubt about it.

Our Ancestors endured the same during their undying commitment to our uplift.

“Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”  - Dr. Martin Luther King

It is evident during these days which Leaders have the true interest of the people.  Any leader who supports psychological or physical intimidation or violence against its citizens is not an honorable one, and is to be deemed and respected as such.  Any attempt to discourage News media is not an open government and may be deemed to be attempting to hide something.

“Integrity is doing what is right when no one is looking or may find out.  Integrity is doing what is right when everyone else around you is compromised.  If you have to compromise to stay on the team, you are on the wrong team.”

Here we are, witnessing another people with melanin demand Human and Civil Rights, just as the world watched ours.

The Questions is – Do we really comprehend what we are witnessing?

*Note: As of publishing date, Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt have/are in the process of revolution.  News reports have been noted that other nations have started internal reviews in an attempt from revolution.
