Libya - A Serious Situation Gets Worse!

Pre-Gadhafi_Flag_Raised_At_Ambassador_s_Residence

I was surprised to see Libya do the revolution thing.  While I love thier after WWII National flag being Red, Black, and Green, I had no idea Mr. Gaddafi was considered a Tyrant/Dictator by his people.  Notice I said his people.  I am quite aware of the "official" and non official opinion of Mr. Gaddafi by diplomats of countries other than Libya.  In this instance, as far as I was concerned it was not a situation for the international community to enter into.  It was an  internal matter, a family discussion.  I felt confident that it would work out.

When your people say "enough", the mature thing to do is to step aside and allow the people the right to choose thier leader.  In America, we call it the democratic process.  I know, everyone is not trying to be another America.  I get that, I do.  However, there is another concept which is a key component of Human Rights - Self Determination.  This concept has been a part of life since life came to the planet.  Of course there is the discussion of what is and is not considered a sentient being.  I find those discussions to be very arrogant, but that's another discussion for another time.  Many beings have been relegated to less than human.  So here we come to this again?  I sure hope not.  Many wars have been fought over such madness.

So the people took to the streets and attempted to do the Peace thing that other nations have recently done.  But no, that is not what happened.  Nope.  We all know what happened, and Mr. Gaddafi should be ashamed of himself for that travesty.  Not only were the civilian population who revolted attacked and bombed, but more melanted people were treated like the enemy/contracted killers, were harassed, and ran for thier lives.  Step one: divide and conquer.

Step Two - disable the enemy, even if it means blowing up  your own resources.  Deep Sigh.  I hoped that was not going to happen, and to be honest - I was surprised when he made that move.  I didn't think Mr. Gaddafi was that kind of man.  Then his people started physically attacking the rebels.

I was sick when I heard about that move.  I saw heartlessness in it. In my mind, it was the 2011 manifestation of man's inhumanity to man over politics.  That is a serious immature move.  It says, because you don't see what I see, you are not worth living.  No good can come from that thought process.  It is a slippery slope that borders on insanity.  An old way of putting it is Before I let you have it, I will burn it to the ground.

When we see this behavior in adults dealing with the break up of relationships, we call it selfishness, evil, madness, and a host of other adjectives - none being positive.  So, how am I a Pan-African deep in my little Red/Black/Green, and Gold heart supposed to view this whole situation?  I love that people are standing up for themselves in what they perceive to be an unjust land.  On the other hand I hate that a Northern African Leader has been accused by his people of being unjust.  Worse yet, his actions have given a ring of truth to the allegations

The best way to show that a lie is a lie is to not be/do what people say that you do/are.  If you are accused of being a murderer it is essential that you do not kill/have not killed people.  It is as easy as that.  Now IF you have killed people and not in defense of your person and/or people in your immediate area, you can honestly be called a murderer.

The International Community sent Mr. Gaddafi notice that they were watching him and would hold him responsible for attacking his own people.  They decided to do the we will make you poor thing, which was done some time ago and had little effect then and had little effect this time as well.

My heart is broken to have to say that some of the international community decided to do the No Fly Zone thing.  No, no, no, no,  GOD Almighty, please help us.  This a not the thing to do.  Bombing a country, even in the name of Humanitarian concerns is not a good thing.  This does not look good on us, just as the bombing of Iraq did not look good on us.  This is about to become a serious situation.  I recommend all praying people get to praying for peace and justice, for there can be no peace without equal justice.
